Chávez’s first introduction to Acting  was in the late 90’s in the CBS TV series “ LA Doctors” and since,  Luis has accrued over 40 TV & Film credits.  His work in the  Student Academy Award Gold Medal Winning short film ” A Day’s work”, earned him several awards, Including Best Actor honors at the Gen Art Film Film Festival . Earlier in his career, he was cast in a series regular role  for the  TV show  “Crash” opposite legendary  Dennis Hopper, and in the star studded film “Ocean’s 13” .

Throughout his  career he’s collaborated with well respected and Academy Award winning  talent such as Sandra Bullock  & Billy Bob Thornton in the political drama “Our Brand is Crisis”,  Kim Basinger in the thriller “While She was Out” and Adrien Brody in the comedy “High School”

 Most recently, in late 2022,  we  saw him  share the screen with Christoph Waltz & Willem Dafoe in  Walter Hill’s western “Dead for a Dollar” which premiered last September at the prestigious  2022 Venice Film Festival.  Luis’ portrayal as a vicious land boss(Benjamin Bratt )’s quiet and diplomatic personal lawyer has received critical acclaim .

Chávez’s work in “Deadland”, a psychological thriller which premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival has been praised by critics for Luis’ ability to convey  emotions without much dialogue.

In his latest film, “Muzzle”, he reunites with “High School” Director John Stalberg to play opposite Aaron Eckhart in a non-binary role, which represents Chávez’s own gender identity.

Coming up, Luis stars in “Earthlings” an indie drama, executive produced by Todd Haynes.
